Inspiration

According to the dictionary inspiration is:

1.
the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.
synonyms: creativity, inventiveness, innovation, innovativeness, ingenuity, imagination, imaginativeness, originality, individuality; artistry, expressiveness, creative power, creative talent, creative skill, genius, insight, vision, wit, finesse, flair, brilliance, sophistication

the quality of being inspired.
synonyms: stimulus, stimulation, motivation, motivating force, fillip, encouragement, influence, muse, goad, spur, lift, boost, incentive, incitement, impulse, catalyst

divine influence, especially that supposed to have led to the writing of the Bible.

2.
a sudden brilliant or timely idea.
synonyms: bright idea, brilliant idea, timely thought, revelation

When my muse wants to “cooperate” and I am in the flow I get my inspiration mostly from the colors of the beads. Especially from art beads. One can feel the love an artist puts in these tiny wonders of art. By looking at a beautiful art bead, designs often create themselves.

When I am having my “beads play-day” and my muse is deciding to take a prolonged coffee break, I’m having a harder time finding inspiration. My go-to stop for instant inspiration is the website of Design seeds. The pictures are mouth watering gorgeous and the color palettes are inspirational.

If my muse is on holiday I find inspiration in design bead kids, like the muse packs from Smittenbeads, browsing the fresh picks from Lima beads, flicking through beading magazines or by picking up a bead embroidery project.

When that doesn’t work…Well I’m just calling it a day and go for a long walk in the mountains.

Glass headpins: Earthshinebeads
Copper earwires: Faerystones

These are available in my shop.

Can you tell what inspired me creating these earrings?
And of course I like to know what inspires you in your creativity?

Thank you for visiting. Wishing you a wonderful time, full of joy, happiness, laughter and lots of inspiration. See you in a couple of weeks.

  3. Loved your post Janine - and the color were what caught my eye - ironically I just received an order from Raida (Havana Beads) with these exact colors :) love all the details - but the Glass headpins are amazing - and I can only imagine that no other inspiration was needed than those glorious pieces of miniature art! Always love your eye for combining components - pure beauty - natures bounty...they remind me of Mountains and the waters of the Mediterranean Sea - LOVE!

    1. Awww Janice, thank you!! I am blushing now. And you are so right, the headpins were the inspiration for these earrings. The blue is so striking and the brown so warm, wonderful combination. And I am curious what you will design for the order for Raida. I know it is going to be wonderful!

  5. Thank you Claire for pointing out the typo, grin. Although kids are very inspirational, here my inspiration is coming from bead kits.

  6. Hi Janine! The earrings are lovely! :) Your inspiration for the earrings... Looking at the colors in them, I'm thinking of the rich soil of Greece that forms the valleys and then the mountains. Since you are surrounded by the ocean and a canopy of the blue sky... well, that may explain the blue. What is interesting to me is that although the mountains, ocean, sky are often associated with a "rugged" feel, your earrings are very delicate/feminine/pretty. What inspires me... colors in nature... especially of flowers or the autumn, lovely scents of perfume, cookies, candles, fire wood burning, etc., and also certain music. Thanks for sharing your blog!! Hugs! xo

    1. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment Denise and your lovely compliment! In this case I was inspired by the glass head pin. But the amazing wonderful surroundings we live in are often an inspiration as well. Just the past weekend we drove into the mountains to hike. The combination of the blues of the sea and sky and the browns and greens of the mountains...amazing! And the light in Greece is incredible. Thank you for sharing what inspires you! Hugs back!

  8. Dear Janine, the subject of inspiration and the muse. Two of the most difficult things. I find huge inspiration, as you do, from art beads. I am amazed by what I "see" in the tiny works of art. So often though I find they are simply so complete as they are that it becomes a serious challenge to enhance them rather than cover them up. Design Seeds is awesome, too. I used to receive their daily newsletter and saved each one I loved. But there is no doubt that if I lived in surroundings such as you do, nature would be my biggest inspiration. And I love your earrings!! The brilliant blending of colors! Whether you believe it or not, your muse was ON that day. :) Hugs

    1. Thank you so much for your comment Norbel. I just love art beads. I guess that's why I collect them (Hubby would say hoard them). I always find it hard to part with them. I know what you mean regarding the challenge. I tend to try to put too many "stuff" in a design, which could completely hide the art beads. Definitely a challenge.
